Somebody, anybody, point me in the right direction. We’re told we need to take better care of ourselves as we enter and pass menopause (don’t you hate that word?). But how do we begin to figure out what’s right for us? We’re bombarded every day with products that promise to make us thinner, help us deal with stress, and cope with hot flashes. The list goes on and on. Add a physical disorder into the mix and suddenly you’re managing a mini pharmacy at home.
I woke up one random day last year and could not move without my entire body screaming at me. I was in excruciating pain. My husband looked on hopelessly and helplessly.
Turns out that my body had started a war against me. After every test imaginable, my diagnosis was fibromyalgia—the disease many consider to be in “one’s head.” It may have been in my head, but it was also most certainly in my body. I can only attribute my ailment to stress, a well-known issue for women. One’s body can handle only so much stress before something manifests physically. After a year of major events—I was forced to leave my job, my daughter got married, my father was in and out of the hospital for months and like many others, we were walloped by Hurricane Sandy—my body decided to rebel.
My first line of action was to take a noted pharmaceutical that has been shown to relieve the pain caused by fibromyalgia. That, along with the drug Percocet enabled me to eke out my daily routine—just barely. Then a friend told me about a product that helped others suffering with my condition. Isotonix OPC-3 is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, with a main ingredient called Pycnogenol. Pycnogenol is a natural plant extract from the bark of the maritime pine tree, which grows exclusively along the coast of southwestern France. Wanting to step away from manufactured medications and pharmaceuticals, primarily to avoid intolerable side effects, I decided to try a product from a natural source.
Several months later, I’m feeling better, sleeping better and have more energy. While my experience can only be considered anecdotal evidence, there is no doubt that the OPC-3 has helped. I’m getting my life back.
I decided to become a rep for the company that makes OPC-3 and I’m learning how this product others can help people with challenging conditions. The more I learn the more I like.
